A Different Kind of Festival

While such festivals as Austin City Limits or SXSW are popular, Austin like many cities is cultural with a diverse population.

So it's about time for a festival to represent that. One such festival is the Xemumba festival which is advertised as bringing Central and South America to Austin. It says it is "Un festival de musica latina". This festival was created by Bandon Badillo, whom Austin Chronicle says is a major reason Austin is a "Best Place to Discover Latino Music".

This festival features local bands with music from Latin and South America. Music includes samba, rumba, and mambo. The festival is Saturday Oct. 24, 2009 from 10 a.m. to midnight.

It will be located at Kenny Dorham's Backyard at 1106 East 11th St.

The event for all ages has tickets online for $10 at Front Gate Tickets. They will be $15 at the gate and for VIP it will be $35.
